Temiree, hard at work forging his sword.

I think I've "finished" this one at least a dozen times, and it's about time to post it before I start going backwards. I wanted to indicate a more dynamic movement with his hammer, but a motion blur was kind of distracting, and I really didn't want to use the cartoon convention of swoosh lines. Perhaps if I had him leaning more into the work?

A long-owed piece of art for a great and long time friend!

Thank you so much Sari! I wasn't sure how I would do being away from the "drawing board" so long, but not only is it not like I ever left, but I felt a bit more confidence than I had in a long time. It's not great or perfect by any means, but I'm quite happy with it, and hope to build on it.

Hehe, you put a load of effort into this, it looks great! :D Very cool!!

Also, you could try using motion blur to imply movement, but it can be difficult to get it to look natural...

I tried a motion-blur, but it looked too distracting to me... but it may have been more about my unwillingness to "mess up" part of a drawing I worked on a lot than anything else!

And thanks.

Is it safe to hold red hot metal even with gloves?

I like the sparks, you did a good job on them. I've always found metalwork to be an interesting subject though I have never worked with iron myself.

Hey, thanks! I did a little iron blacksmithing in high school, and it was fun to pound away on white hot metal. I don't remember actually making anything useful though. And as far as holding the hot metal with only glove... I bet Tem could do it!

Those laws of physics, do darn inconvenient!

Is that pig iron you used or something else? I did some aluminum, which is utterly hilarious (It's so light!) and lead (It's so heavy!) as well as doing zinc and brass.
